an intensive workshop with gustaf broms, Peckham (London),

How do we perform with the hidden, feral energies of the city?
If the idea of the city, can be seen as an expression of a civilisation, the human mind on a pedestal, we will explore “the cracks”, where other stories leaks and linger, ready to break through the asphalt.
Facilitated by gustaf broms, this five-day intensive is for artists looking to offer attention differently, and to shift their ways of inhabiting and relating to this place.
The workshop draws on and expands gustaf’s extensive experience as an artist working between performance, video and installation, and his exploration of the nature of consciousness, the dualistic concept of Being NATURE (the biological process of body), and being MIND (as intellect interprets experience).
Like the ancient tide of the River flow, meets the citys linear time, or the persistent dance of organic worlds break through the concrete.
Through osmosis we merge with place, interact and gather materials.
In the second part of the day, we return to the studio to further investigate our found materials, how they contain a condensed story, echoes of its previous journeys, we will explore how we can build new stories out of stories.
who is this for?
To explore how they overlap and relate, and somehow create each other, as time measures space, and space measures time, and the environment as extension of body.
Through place and materials (organic beings), we will aim to discover hidden stories through the language of action.
the act of spending some time immersed in London’s publicly accessible undersides. Come prepared for every variety of London’s winter weather.
Some sites are accessible by road or paved path, but others are only accessible via informal footpaths. There will be no need to rush to any of the sites and the routes would be graded ‘easy’ or ‘moderate’.
The studio is located on the second floor of the Bussey Building, a former industrial warehouse. Regrettably, there is currently no lift access to this studio.
