#2: aNALOGUE Abyss iGNITION // Julia Bardsley

Julia Bardsley, #1. M[Eye] Abyss i[DEA], Peopling the Palace Festival, 2025. Photo by Claire Nolan.

Enter the house of aNALOGUE iGNITION, an O/S [operative/speculative] system in three rooms.

Here, two aGENTS of iNVOCATION - imperfect duplicates - reinstate complexity, forming circuits of unstable intensities.

Working on the upper level with the horizontal QR [quixotic resistance] code, the two aGENTS [0 + 1] charm, forge, organise + assemble components of entropic fascination.

On the lower level is the BLACK BOX, where the transformed aGENTS attempt acts of spectacular enchantment, with the GiGo [gorgeous in gorgeous out] Choreographies - gifts from | into the dark.

Betwixt + Between is the miniature portal; a feedback loop, a window of stare, an anomalous repetition, a-void-dance, a swerve echo, a recalibrated pH [positive hallucination].

This is not a Data Center.

This is a D.A.T.A. Center [Disrupt All The Algorithms] powered by the two aGENTS of iNVOCATION - irregular/contrary knowledge generators.

4-hours a day over 3-days

Katharine Meynell, Standing with my beard in the postbox, 2026. 7th Bergen International Performance Festival. Photo by R. Halleraker.

Working as an artist since the late 1970’s across material media, using moving image, performance, drawings and artists’ books (many collaborations with the Gefn Press).

My interests concern the personal & the political, humour and the slippery line between document and fiction. I completed a PhD at the RCA on Time Based work in Britain 2000; I was Reader in Fine Art at Middlesex University, retiring 2011.

About 7 Rooms - Dismantling Grief // Dagmara Bilon

About 7 Rooms- Dismantling Grief, asks how practices of dismantling, recycling and transformation might generate new rituals for those living with loss. Blurring the boundaries between live art, social practice and ceremony, cultivating temporary communities of care where loss becomes a topic for embodied enquiry.

Developed in collaboration with a group of co-researchers—the project unfolds as an open performance laboratory. Conceived as a site-responsive, durational work in Safehouse1, the performance invites audiences into a shared space of witnessing and reflection.

A practice engaged with the exploration of a language beyond tongue, using a body as anchor in a shifting landscape. To explore the ephemeral fragments of Being, between mind and matter.

This new commission marks a return after more than twenty years to durational work for Lee.

Methodically taking apart a set of twenty photo books, ‘The Library of Nations’ and reconfiguring the images contained with them as a means to expose and critically challenge the extractive world order they embody.
